Born and raised in Kodiak, Alaska, Max has had a keen interest in art and design since his stint as editor of his high school yearbook introduced him to the form. He studied graphic design at Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree and the attention of his professors for his design storytelling and broad visual vocabulary. For over a decade, he has made a career in publishing, most recently as the art director for Central Virginia’s C-VILLE Weekly and supporting publications, such as Best of C-VILLE, Abode, Knife & Fork, Weddings, and 434, to name a few.
Max’s practiced eye for design, unique point of view, and versatile approach to visual problems has won him several 1st-place awards in design categories from the Virginia Press Association and the Association of Alternative Newsmedia.
